FAQ's
Q. What is life coaching?
A. Life coaching is simply one person coming alongside
of another for a portion of life's journey. It includes the
emotional support of encouragement and cheerleading, and the
practical support of defining values, goal setting, achieving
dreams, enhancing relationships, and much more. Coaching is not
counseling. Coaching does not look at problems and offer
therapeutic, counselor initiated solutions. Coaching instead,
allows you, the client to discover the answers on your own (with
the help of exercises and assignments) and then to build a
vision and move forward.
Q. Who needs coaching?
A. Anyone who feels stuck, unmotivated, going in
circles, unfulfilled, or lacking direction will benefit from
having a life coach. Coaching can be helpful for someone who
would like a different perspective, or needs accountability, or
wants to change, but struggles with implementation. Anyone and
everyone will reap benefits from life coaching!
Q. Is there an age limit or minimum?
A. No, there really is no age limit or minimum.
Q. How long does coaching last?
A. Coaching can last for as short or as long as you,
the client, needs it to be.
I strongly suggest a minimum of six sessions, after the first
free consultation.
Much of the information that I have available is structured for
a period of six weeks or sessions. But, the coaching is based on
the clients needs and may be structured differently at any time.
The client ultimately decides.
Q. How long is a session?
A. A session should be at least twenty minutes in
length, and may extend to a full hour or more. The session
length depends on what you, the client needs on that particular
day and week. Typical length is approximately one half hour to
forty minutes.
Q. How often are sessions scheduled?
A. Sessions are usually scheduled once per week. Due to
the nature of the conversations and allowing time for completion
of any exercises or assignments, it is not recommended that more
than one session a week be scheduled.
Final Thoughts
The Chief End Of Man Is To
Glorify
God And To Enjoy Him Forever.
How do we glorify God?
One way to glorify God is simply to fulfill the dream that He
has placed within your heart. He put you here for a reason, and
you must learn what that reason is and then act.
A second way to glorify God is to become His child by accepting
the Lord Jesus Christ as your personal Savior and Lord. He
(Jesus) is the only way to come to the Father. Jesus is the Way,
the Truth, and the Life. When you choose God's way above your
way, you glorify God.
A third way to glorify God is to bear fruit; allow the Holy
Spirit to work in and through your life. Partner with God in His
work to transform you into the image of Christ.
A fourth way to glorify God is to share His love and serve out
of gratitude.
How do we enjoy God?
I don't know about you, but until recently I had trouble
understanding this part of the Westminster Shorter Catechism. It
seemed logical to me that we were to glorify God while we were
on earth, and we would continue to glorify Him in heaven. Our
enjoyment of Him would also be in heaven. However, enjoying God
is not something we do in heaven only, in some distant future. We can enjoy God now. I read or heard that we enjoy God when we
take pleasure in His creation. That may be true. But, let me
offer this. We enjoy God when we are content in Him. There may
be several ways to experience this contentment, but I will share
one.
When we are in His awesome presence, communing together, and
there is not a thought or concern outside the relationship that
we have with Him, that is enjoyment. When there is no desire to
be anywhere else, no desire to be with anyone else, when there
is no thought of what we should or could be doing, when we just
want to be with Him forever and love Him and know His love and
acceptance for us, to be absorbed with every word He says, and
understand that everything we will ever need is found in Him,
then, we have discovered how to enjoy God. When we are in this
place, our existence, bills, obligations, dreams, fears, and
struggles do not, cannot break into our awareness. It is as if
we are cocooned briefly with Him in eternity and temporal things
have no place here. This is, momentarily, true contentment and
enjoyment.
However, God knows that there is importance to our temporal
existence, and our experiences, obligations, dreams, etc. do
matter. So, He gently brings us back to earth, leaving us awed,
energized, and eager to serve and please Him.
